Et Voilà. As promised, my second fic rec list. It took me a lot longer to put it together than I’d anticipated, but here it is.
Once again these are all stories I’ve read and that have wormed their way into my heart and refuse to leave again.
Enjoy!!

Title: Among The Wreck
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dean Winchester/Castiel; Dean Winchester/Jimmy Novak
Words: 110,473
Warnings: Violence, off-screen torture (not one of the main characters), temporary major character death, explicit sexual content, an instance of possible dub-con, extremely salty language
***Please note some of the art inserted into the fic is graphic in nature and is, therefore, NSFW.***
Summary: The fate of the world has been decided and two human vessels are the key to the final battle that will trigger the apocalypse. Not content to leave anything up to destiny, Heaven takes matters into its own hands. But a simple assassination is complicated by the interference of one of their own, leaving the future in limbo and the angel Castiel to pay the ultimate price for his actions.
But what should be the end is only the beginning. The angel’s fall from grace crash lands him in the body of a young Jimmy Novak as his soul departs. The process leaves Castiel with no memories of his celestial past; he knows himself only as Jimmy Novak, a sickly child whose overnight recovery is nothing short of miraculous. But as Jimmy’s life starts anew, Dean Winchester’s has all but ended.
It’s under these circumstances that these two boys come together and forge a friendship that slowly develops into something more. But their path was never meant to be easy and fate eventually intercedes, thrusting them both into the roles they were always meant to play: the angel and the hunter. The Righteous Man and his Protector.
I don’t have words to describe how I feel about this fic. I’ve tried all day to come up with something, but I can’t. It’s beyond amazing. Definitely, one of the best things I’ve ever read. I don’t understand why this fic’s not more known. It’s absolutely astounding. The ending seemed a bit rushed, but the first act is so beautiful you’ll love it anyway. Btw, don’t let Dean/Jimmy scare you away, it’s actually Dean/Castiel. You’ll see when you click that link and start reading the perfection that is ‘Among The Wreck’. Read it.
Title: Long Way Home
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dean/Castiel, background Sam/Hel
Words: 8,147
Warnings: none
Summary: a Dean/Cas bonding fic with some Sam/Hel on the side. Post 6x22
I read this fic only a couple of days ago and I already want to read it again. It’s beautiful.
Title: A Wincest Story
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Dean/Castiel, Sam/OFC
Words: ~3,000
Warnings: No actual Wincest, the author being a smartass
Summary: When he listened to their former angel pronounce his new official human name over and over, first giddy, then reverent—“Cas Winchester, Cas Winchester”—Sam couldn’t shake the feeling that this was somehow going to come back and bite them in the ass.
Probably the funniest Destiel fic I’ve ever read and the only Wincest story I’ll ever enjoy reading.
Title: I Will Walk On Water
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 18 parts
Warnings: implied rape/torture
Summary: In which Dean discovers that the archangels didn’t finish their job after all, and that demons picked up where they left off.
This is –without a doubt- one of the best Destiel fics I’ve ever read. I couldn’t stop reading. It’s angsty but oh so very perfect.
Title: We Have All The Time In The World
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, Castiel/Lucifer
Words: 11,100
Warnings: Very graphic violence, evil mind games and serious non-con. PLEASE DO NOT READ IF YOU ARE EASILY OFFENDED. Or even if you’re not easily offended, but you don’t like dark!fics. This is not for the squeamish! (And I really mean it.)
Summary: Lucifer gets his very own angel to play with, and Dean has to put his toy back together again.
Pure, glorious angst. I absolutely loved it. If you can’t handle very graphic violence/torture/rape, I suggest you don’t read this one. Seriously, this is some very dark shit.
Title: Keep Me Close
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, background Sam/Gabriel
Words: 5,713
Summary: AU - In a world where humans have captured and enslaved the angels, there is one human and one angel who have managed to find happiness together. But that happiness is threatened by talk of prophecy and rebellion, and Castiel is forced to come to terms with his greatest fear – losing Dean.
The only thing I hate about this story is that it ends too soon.
Title: Ricochet
Rating: Hard R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 10,000+
Warning: Set immediately following 5.03, so spoilers up to there. Also, I’m going to warn for dub-con, just to be safe.
Summary: So, when an extremely distressed prostitute (who also happens to be an amateur witch) fires a little curse at the bemused and uncomfortable angel who caused her this upset, it ricochets off Castiel’s shield-slash-forcefield-magic-repellent-aura-of-impenetrable-holy-light and hits Dean square in the stomach. Dean doesn’t know what hit him.
I friggin love this author. She has written some of my favorite stories and this is once again one of the best fics I’ve ever read.
Title: Hummingbirds
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 23,700 (total)
Warning: Hurt/comfort; Castiel!whump; Dean!whump; porn. It’s very gory in places, so please be warned. And it’s also very, very soppy in others, so be warned for that, too…
Summary: Castiel is rendered mute after being taught a painful lesson, but that enables Dean to learn a few lessons of his own while holding onto something important for him. Elsewhere, someone really loves to count…
Another story by Strangeness and Charm (the queen of angst and one of my favorite authors). It starts off very gory, but after that it gets so unbelievably cute. I just wanted to gather Castiel in my arms and hold him close.
Title: Named
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 95,000
Warning: Blasphemy. Also, this takes place directly after 4.22, so beware of spoilers up to the very end of the episode. There is also a section where the dialog is entirely in Spanish; hover your mouse over the dialog for a floating translation
Summary: Jesus Christ is dead. Somehow, that isn’t the worst part of Dean’s week.
I loved, loved, LOVED the plot. This story is awesome – I don’t know how else to describe it. The scene where Castiel confesses his love for Dean is one of the most beautiful things I’ve ever read and I just… can’t. That scene is utter perfection. I don’t know why I put off reading this fic for so long…
Title: Baggage
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: ~18,000 total
Summary: Dean is a lonely cab driver trying to straighten out his life since his brother left for college, and Castiel is the strange and otherworldly “escort” who snares his heart. Are daddy issues the only thing they have in common? Or is there something more to what is happening between them?
I don’t really know what to say about this one. I really enjoyed reading it, but Dean’s mood swings annoyed me. Doesn’t take away the fact that it’s a lovely fic. I especially liked the epilogue.
Title: In This Secluded Spot I Respond As I Wouldn’t Dare Elsewhere
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 34,040
Warnings: Homophobic slurs; bullying with some violence
Summary: It’s 1995, and Castiel’s high school years are destined to be difficult: home-schooled until eighth grade, he is awkward, shy, and socially inept. The weird kid with the funny name would rather isolate himself and draw in his sketchbook than deal with the constant bullying he faces every day. Things only get worse in his junior year when he excels in home economics class, leading the captain of the baseball team, Alastair, to start taunting him for being gay.
Then new student Dean Winchester arrives at Flour Bluff High School, sharing many of Castiel’s classes. Castiel has seen his type before — handsome, athletic, arrogant, and sure to be the most popular kid in school. But Castiel eventually learns that he and Dean have more in common than he thought, and they form an unlikely friendship.
Another High School AU and I love it to bits.
Title: Ghost Dance
Rating: M
Pairings: Castiel/ Dean Winchester
Words: 51,194
Warnings: pre-narrative character deaths, depictions of brain damage and mental illness, major angst, minor elements of dub-con
Summary: In post-apocalyptic isolation, Castiel nurses Dean back to something like his former self, but will a time come when Dean’s recovered —and rediscovered— too much?
This damn fic nearly broke my heart. Crying!Castiel made me want to rip my heart out and use it to dry my tears. I especially loved the first chapters. It’s beautifully written and I could totally see this happen.
Title: Reaching As I Fall
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dean/Castiel
Words: 74,000
Warnings: Death of original and canon minor characters, one death of a semi-major character, violence.
Summary: “Service to God was the meaning of existence; service to Michael is nothing but slavery.” Castiel is part of an underground network helping angels fall, in resistance to heaven. At the same time that a fallen angel by the name of Dean Winchester turns up, some of those in the network are murdered by Michael’s forces – there’s a spy. What does Dean have to do with it? Who is Dean? And why are they hunting him so fiercely?
There isn’t much I can say about this fic except that I love it. Cas’ love for Dean is limitless and it’s beautiful.
Title: The Roommates Verse
Rating: PG-13
Pairings: Dean/Castiel
Words: 2,612
Warnings: none
Summary: Sam and Castiel are college roommates and it’s time to go home for Thanksgiving break.
This is another one of CloudyJenn’s fics and it’s cute. Unbelievably cute.
Title: Asunder
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dean/Castiel, Sam/Ruby
Words: 23,817
Warnings: The budding relationship between Dean and Castiel is almost secondary to an overdue, and emotionally charged, meet up between Sam and Dean.’
Summary: Wherefore they are no more twain, but one flesh. What therefore God hath joined together, let not man put asunder. (Matthew 19:6)
‘AU. Dean is a social worker with CPS. Castiel is a pediatric surgeon. Sam is marrying Ruby.’
What I loved most about this fic is not the Dean/Castiel relationship (though, I loved that as well of course), but the Sam/Dean dynamic. Their (broken) relationship is so beautiful. Two brothers who once trusted each other and were each other’s world, carefully try to mend the pieces of everything they broke back together. It’s beautiful.
Title: The Girlfriend Experience
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dean/Castiel
Words: 15,393
Summary: While it’s not like Dean hasn’t had a couple of truly regrettable hit-and-runs in his sexual history, this is probably the saddest fucking thing that has ever happened to him.
This story made me laugh my ass off. Sam is the biggest Destiel shipper ever and is totally OCC but that’s alright. And the sex is unbelievably hot.
Title: A Rain of Feathers
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: ~7,800
Summary: Sex pollen Angel!Porn with a plot. No, seriously.
Without a doubt the best sex pollen fic I’ve ever read. Not just mindless, steaming fucking, but a story with an actual, beautiful plot. And, o yeah, a little bit of Wing!Kink.
Title: J. Alfred Prufrock Gows a Pair
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 9,800
Summary: Dean’s a new student and Castiel is God of the high school. They get paired together for an English project and sparks fly.
Everything is High School AU and nothing hurts. The sequel’s even better. The combination of sex and poetry is unparalleled in its awesomeness.
Title: Nowhere Man
Rating: NC-17
Pairings: Dean/Castiel
Words: ~32,000
Warnings: Contains copious Castiel!whumping.
Summary: Sam discovers he has a lot to learn about himself – but not as much as he has to learn about his brother. Meanwhile, an angel gets whumped. \O/
Angst, angst, angst. Everything hurts and nothing is beautiful. I loved the plot and the fact that it’s mostly written from Sam’s POV.
Title: Clue Feathers
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 1,675
Warnings: wing!fic
Summary: Something is seriously messed up with Castiel’s wings.
This fic is almost unbearably cute. You’ll love it!
Title: Wolf Verse
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, Anna/Balthazar
Words: Still in progress
Warnings: none
Summary: Castiel is a wolf forced on a mate-search. Dean is a wolf without a pack, living alone in the woods with his brother. They meet.
Yes, I know they’re wolves and yes, I love it. And you will too. It’s a work in progress but you can (and should) read the first two chapters. I promise you, you won’t regret it. After reading this I’m convinced CloudyJenn could write a fic about Dean and Cas being a soap bar and a toothbrush and still rock it.
Title: Outrun My Gun
Rating: M
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 34,436
Summary: Finally convinced that Sam and Dean will never say yes and accept their destinies, Heaven and Hell come up with a new plan, one that will redraw the Apocalypse. All they need is Dean Winchester’s soul. Dean/Castiel, time travel AU.
This fic is like chocolate. I love it and I can’t get enough of it. I know it’s a fic, but I just love the way Castiel looks at Dean in this fic. It’s so well described and it’s so canon.
Title: Give All My Secrets Away
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 2,450
Warnings: Spoilers through 6.12
Summary: When Castiel needs to stay with Dean while the hunter is vulnerable and unable to defend himself, he doesn’t expect it to end with confessions Dean doesn’t mean to give.
An amazingly beautiful short fic. I loved every single thing about it.
Title: Bone
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 8,800
Warnings: Spoilers up to season 5, lots of graphic torture
Summary: When Dean (raised from hell by some unknown force) and Sam stop the last seal from breaking, heaven decides to bring its own apocalypse. Late in the war, an angel with dark hair and striking blue eyes is captured, and Dean – Dean is his interrogator.
This is my last rec, because I really didn’t know whether or not I should put it on this list. And I’m still not entirely sure about it. It’s not that I didn’t like the fic –hell! Not at all. It’s the fact that I’m not sure there are a lot of people out there that will like it as well. This is a very, very, very dark fic. Dean torturing Cas kind of dark. Their relationship is all twisted and fucked up and there isn’t exactly a happy ending to this fic. THIS IS NOT AN UNDERSTATEMENT. Please, I want you all to know what you’re about to read before you start reading it. If you like light, happy and uncomplicated stories, I suggest you skip out on this one.
Alright, so I promised you guys that I’d make one of these and here it is. It took a lot more time than I originally thought it would, but I did it and I’m happy with the result.
These are all fics I’ve read and love with a burning heat and/or still haunt me no matter how long ago I read them.
ENJOY!

Title: Promegranate Seeds
Rating: FRT for violence and religious themes
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 2000+
Warnings: character death, unconventional grammar, deliberate stylistic choices
Summary: Heaven remakes the Earth in the image of Eden. Castiel spends the years of its reforging seeking to preserve the last shreds of humanity he can coax free.
This is one of the most heartbreaking fics I’ve ever read. It still haunts me even though I’ve read it months ago.
Title: Unsaid
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: ~6,800
Summary: AU in which John and Mary both died in the fire and Dean is deaf. He lives in an orphanage, and he’s just six months short of eighteen when someone in charge decides that a deaf kid must go well with a mute one and gives Dean a new roommate.
One of the cutest and most beautiful things I’ve ever read. I love it.
Title: The Soul Piece
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: (Still in progress)
Summary: When a human child is born, their soul is shattered into bright gleaming pieces that scatter to the winds.
This is the first Destiel fic I’ve read and it’s still my favorite. It’s perfect and beautiful and just so fucking amazing that while I’m reading it I can hardly believe it’s not canon.
Title: Jump the Track
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Warning: language, alcohol and drug references, vague references to past non-con
Summary: High school AU. It’s Dean’s senior year at Lawrence High, and he’s already given up on himself. It takes the arrival of the strange, intense, awkward Castiel Delacroix at the school to prove to Dean that maybe his life is worth saving after all.
Amazing. Simply amazing. I loved every word of it.
Title: Undone
Rating: R for language, adult themes, sexual situations
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 9,686
Warnings: angst, h/c, ust
Summary: A curse renders Dean completely dependent upon Castiel. Sam can only watch and wonder.
This is just so unbelievably cute. Castiel takes care of Dean in every sense of the word.
Title: Drive Safely
Rating: NC-17 for sex and bad language
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 2772
Summary: AU of 5x03 wherein Jo is the Righteous Man, it’s Castiel’s last night on Earth (again), and Dean is a hooker.
This is another one of those fics that still haunts me. It’s heartbreaking and perfect and entirely too short.
Title: 300 Things
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: ~76,500 overall
Warnings: Language, angst, sexuality, alcoholism, real life
Summary: Dean’s life at twenty-four makes him feel like he’s forty—he works two jobs to help pay bills for his house and put his genius little brother through private school, and has spent six years (on and off, let’s be honest) working on his mechanical engineering degree at KU. With so much of his life devoted to his family, Dean has little time in his schedule for class and no time for social interaction. Then, while getting his classes together for the fall, he finds himself in a do-or-die situation: He must take his last literature class now, his spring already filled with those left for his major…except that none of the English classes will fit his schedule.
This is how Dean grovels and begs Dr. Castiel Milton to make a special arrangement for him, and Dr. Milton does.
300 Things or ‘The Fic of all Fics’ as I like to call it. If you haven’t read it already you should drop everything and go read it!
Title: The Joy is in the Process
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel; Sam/Jess (not seen)
Words: 9,266
Summary: Sam and Dean have never met anyone as unique as Castiel. The kid wearing a trench coat in the middle of summer introduced himself the day they moved in, and all three of them became instant friends. Then Dean and Cas start spending a lot of time together and Sam finds himself excluded. He doesn’t blame Dean at first; it must be hard being 15 and never setting down roots long enough to make lasting friendships. But as time goes on and he sees less of Dean and Cas, Sam realizes it’s even harder being 11.
My heart can’t handle its cuteness. And can I just say how much I love SPOV in Destiel fics? Because I do. I fucking do.
Title: Pretty Angel (1/2)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, Michael, Sam
Words: ~14,800
Warnings: Angst, h/c (both boys) and the promise of some hot sex to come.
Summary: Michael has a plan to break Team Free Will, and it involves turning Castiel into a rentboy.
You have no idea how much I love this fic.
Title: Bring Me My Arrows of Desire
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 1700
Summary: Castiel’s search for God seems to take him further and further from what he seeks — sort of.
I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again: I adore this fic. I don’t even know why. I just do. I can read it again and again and never grow tired of it.
Title: The Melting Verse
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 110,000
Warnings: Angst, h/c (both boys) and the promise of some hot sex to come.
Summary: After Dean is badly injured on a hunt, Castiel proves just how far he’ll go to look after him – and beyond.
This fic is an angst fest. If you do not like angst you probably shouldn’t read this one, ‘cause it contains tons of it. I loved it, though.
Title: Dream As If You’ll Live Forever [Part 1/2 of the Con!AU]
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, Bobby/Ellen, Sam/Jo
Words: 5999
Summary: AU #19: Cas hasn’t spoken a word to anyone in years and is a drifter who works various odd jobs to finance himself. Dean is a guy with a violent temper who grew up in foster care and has just gotten out of prison for a stupid judgment call. The two cross paths in a pay-by-the-week boarding house run by an eccentric older couple (Bobby and Ellen).
Love it. I simply love it. I almost didn’t read it because after reading the summary I was convinced this was a fic I wouldn’t enjoy (I normally don’t really like this kind of AU), but thank God that I did. It’s fucking perfect and so beautiful it makes me want to cry.
Title: To Reign in Hell
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, with occasional references to Castiel/OMC
Words: 70,138
Warnings: demon!Cas, torture, dub-con, and general darkness/violence
Summary: When Castiel abandoned Heaven to be with Dean, he damned himself to hell. Now, centuries later, Dean is sent on orders from Heaven to stop a demonic Castiel from leading the armies of hell in another war.
One word: Angst. Pure, horrific angst. But oh so amazing.
Title: I wanna hold you high and steal your pain (1/2)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: ~20,000
Warnings: High School AU, homophobia, underage sex (maybe. I haven’t specified, but they’re 17 or 18), barebacking
Summary: Cas was pretty sure he hadn’t done anything to warrant Dean’s rage - he hadn’t scratched the paint on his motorcycle or teased his brother or done any of the millions of things that Dean Winchester got pissed about - but this was the school rebel, the troublemaker, the attitude problem with legs, and he was walking up to Cas. So yeah, Cas was freaking.
By now, you should know how much I love High School AUs. And this is yet another one that is so perfect I can hardly find words to describe it. (And the sex scene’s just… unffffff…)
Title: Thursday’s Child
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 114,000 (total)
Warnings: This is future!Castiel, so be prepared for Castiel/OFCs, drug use and alcohol abuse (hey, it’s all canon!). In addition there’s the odd bit of violence, some whump, muchas porning and very brief implied non-con (nothing graphic at all). Please be warned if you don’t like death!fics that this story is set after Dean had to kill Lucifer!Sam, so clearly there’s (a) no Sam and (b) some mourning. On the bright side, though, there’s also a guest appearance from a real-life Hollywood star! (Well, sort of.)
Summary: Thursday’s child has far to go.
Angst, angst, angst, angst… Reading this fic feels like your heart got ripped out of your chest and fed to the dogs.
Title: A Brief Glimpse
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, unrequited Sam/Castiel
Words: 12,000+

It’s nearly unbearably cute and fucking beautiful.
Title: The Last Five Years
Rating: R

Summary: It’s a long five years and things change.
Everything is The End and everything hurts.
Title: Peanut Butter-Pumpkin Wedding Cake (1/3)
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 31k total
Warnings: Sex, movie cliches
Summary: The good ones are sometimes assholes and always taken.
It made me laugh, it made me cry and I loved it through it all. Read it.
Title: This is Not Convenient
Rating: R
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 11,330

Soul sex. Need I say more?
Title: I Want You All To Myself
Rating: Mature
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, slight Dean/Anna
Summary: School AU. Dean Winchester is seventeen years old, two weeks from graduation, dating an amazing girl, looking at colleges, and is probably in love with his best, male friend. Oh yeah, life is freaking fantastic.
The only thing I do not like about this fic is that it’s too short.
Title: The Request
Rating: PG-13
Pairing: Dean/Castiel, Sam/Jess, Anna, Michael
Words: approximately 36,000
Warnings: AU, angels that aren’t like angels from Supernatural or the Bible or really anywhere, but this story
Summary: When Sam Winchester prays for his brother, Castiel is finally sent on his very first assignment. But what should be a simple love match turns into much more and Castiel finds himself risking everything to ensure the happiness of his extremely frustrating charge.
Another fic written by CloudyJenn. It’s beautiful and perfect and there just aren’t enough adjectives to express my love for her work.
Title: I Got Soul but I’m Not a Soldier
Rating: R
Pairing: AU | Dean/Castiel, Sam/Sarah/Jess
Words: 100,140
Summary: Castiel is on the road (saving people, helping things) when he meets Dean and realizes that his soul is different – and not just because he’s the pastor’s son.
I only recently read this fic and I’m still not entirely sure whether or not I love it. It kind of bothered me that Dean’s a bit of a prude because I find that out of character for him. Still, I can’t deny I enjoyed reading this fic and it’s still awesome.
Title: The Voice Of The Turtledove
Rating: NC-17
Pairing: Dean/Castiel
Words: 60,645
Warnings: I think we’ve hit the motherlode, here. *deep breath* Blasphemy. Theological posturing. Possible underage sex - although Dean is 17, which meets the age of consent where this story takes place. Human!Cas, obviously. Vague insinuations of sibling incest (Castiel/Jimmy, in thought only). Religiously based homophobia. Internalised homophobia in the narrative voice. Shredding of a number of tenets of the Roman Catholic church. Too many Biblical references. Priest!kink and all that comes with it, basically.
Summary: Castiel was eleven years old when he first felt there was something wrong with him. He’s twenty-nine, a Roman Catholic priest in a small New England village, before Dean Winchester shows him that there isn’t. AU.
It may be the last one of my recommendations, but it most certainly isn’t the least. This fic is utterly amazing. I can almost guarantee that you’ll love it. It’s another one of those fics you just have to read.
